The Open Climate Code project was formed in July 2010, with these goals:
- To encourage the publication of climate science source code;
- To draw attention to published climate science source code;
- To increase public confidence in climate science results.
Concretely, the project intends to create a web directory of all published climate science software, and to identify areas of climate science where more publication is most urgently required.
The project was rolled into the Climate Code Foundation when the latter was formed in August 2010.
